WHY: To proclaim a crucified and risen Christ as the Savior of mankind.

Pastors from local congregations gathered at Calvary Community Church to talk about 'Gospel To Gillette' and the Gospel's relevance to our community. This event was aired on KLWD 91.9FM and will be reproduced as February's podcast.

September 17, 2011: "On September 17th, the Campbell County Centennial Festival will be held at Lasting Legacy Park here in Gillette. 'Gospel To Gillette' will be present at the Festival, distributing Bibles and other materials from our GTG tent/table from 12PM to 10PM. On this same day, we will also be distributing Bibles at the 'Picking Up The Pieces' clothing exchange at Harvest Presbyterian Church."

August 9, 2011: "We were able to distribute many Bibles, tracts and related materials at the 2011 Campbell County Fair. The response (particularly for Bibles) was substantial, suggesting the thirst that Gillette has for God's Word. Believers in our community have been sent as ambassadors to those that who are lost and hurting: 'Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.' (2 Corinthians 5:20)."

July 8, 2011: "Next month, Gospel To Gillette will host a booth at the Campbell County Fair where Bibles, tracts, sermons, and other Gospel materials will be given away free. We are hoping to provide free bottled water (with the Gospel on each label) to fair attendees. This event will not be to advocate a particular church, but to advance the Gospel itself... those who are zealous for the glory of God and the salvation of others are invited to volunteer."

HOW CAN I BE SAVED?

REPENT

You'll never turn to Christ unless you turn from sin. Repentance is the recognition of the problem that all of us have... that we have broken the law of God, and are subject to its consequences.

"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out." - Acts 3:19

A repentant heart is necessary for the child of God, because only those who have been shamed by their sins will ever seek to be saved from them.

BELIEVE

By belief, we're not talking about the acknowledgement that God exists; accepting God's reality is insufficient. You see, even the Devil believes that God is "real" but this knowledge does him no good. The sort of belief that leads to salvation is belief that rests upon the person of Jesus Christ (as God in the flesh) and the work that He came to do (to fulfill the the requirements of the law and to lay down His life for the faithful).

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16

A saving faith is one that trusts in Christ alone for one's salvation, as He is presented in the Bible. When we trust in the person and work of Christ, we are acknowledging that it is His merit that allows us to be saved... and not ours.

WHAT SHOULD I DO NEXT?

BAPTISM

Baptism signifies and seals our relationship with God. As a sign, baptism points to the washing away of our sins, and as a seal, it speaks to God's covenant with us and our inheritance as His sons and daughters.

"For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ." - Galatians 3:27

If you have not been baptized, it is a means of grace that Scripture calls you to partake in. But remember: baptism alone does not have the power to save.

PRAYER

Prayer is the lifeline of the believer. When we pray, we are communing one-on-one with our God and Creator. Prayer involves thanking God for who He is, for what He's done, and offering up our desires for those things that are agreeable to His will.

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7

THE WORD OF GOD

The Bible is God's revelation of Himself, and of His desires for us. It is indispensable to the Christian. Through reading His Word, our faith grows deeper, and produces all manner of fruit in our lives.

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16-17

CHURCH

Scripture says that believers have been created as "members of one another," and God has created a visible Church (with officers and sacraments) that we are called to embrace and engage with. Through the Church we grow in faith, knowledge, and relationships with the other parts of God's body.

"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another." - Hebrews 10:24-25
